A Design That Brings the Senses to Life/ A Sensory Revamp Designe

The Trident brand, an exemplary frontrunner on the market, has a well-established awareness rooted in its consumers’ minds. However, it’s known for renewing itself and constantly seeking freshness (just like its product) via innovative proposals.

The market challenge: a growing trend that involved contrasting dark colors to stand out on retail shelves, which would soon become an opportunity to flip the page to a design that needed to go the extra mile.

The Top Design team immediately rescued the essential concept this product offered its audience: a flavor revolution that delivers a sensory explosion that only Trident achieves. Said revolution, led by the X concept (visual representation of the sensation provided), needed to be concealed in a packaging that honored the experience that takes place inside the palate, and distinguish this product from any other on the market.

Proposals were developed for two main product lines: Layers, chewing gum with flavored crystals that burst in your mouth, providing an enveloping sensation; and Twist, a product with a natural blend of two dominant flavors, offering a soothing fusion.

Both also presented the opportunity to help the brand instill coherence in terms of brand architecture, achieving a packaging that had a more noticeable narrative and uniformity to heighten this important commercial effort.

For illustration purposes, it was imperative to rightfully represent this specific sensation of two flavors mixing in your mouth. The team also worked on multiple proposals (based on a previous diligent visual benchmark) to authentically come up with the closest and truest representation of the consistency that this product had.

The shift to a black background also reinforced the illustration’s details while offering an intangible, dreamlike flavor expression. The final texture manages to showcase a light surface that flows naturally throughout the packaging and makes use of neon shimmers to strikingly stand out.

The final result is currently well-positioned on the brand’s social media platforms, effectively reaching new audiences, of different ages and interests, that serve as a constant revival for the company.
